Review:
Poet Wind supposed to be a painting for the 50-year anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda, coming to America, the 50-year anniversary of the independence of India and the brilliance of Townes van Zandt, who was a friend of David. The songs “Snowin' on Raton” and “Guitar Road” are dedicated to the man who did give Elvis a hard time. If you put the Poet Wind in your CD drawer from your CD player, you will be probably imaging yourself in little streets in Paris, somewhere around the Momartre area. But the song tells the story about that road musician who David truly is. The opening track Poet Wind is coming straight from the prayers of Lee Clayton. It feels like two songs in one but has the properties of being a perfect opener of the sixth album of David Munyon. New is the fact that David uses a lot of backing vocals on this album. Something you should bite in is the track “The Pirate Song”, impressive and tasteful done. It is unbelievable that Stockfisch Records record a sitar player (Partha Chatterjee), 20 years ago and they used his music, in the same key, in the song “In India”. Some crazy story, I know, but it is a true one.
