Welcome  in the Real Roots CaféThe Real Roots Café is a non-profit Dutch language music web site that represents a variety of music genres. Music in the broadest sense of the words, as long it is real and deeply rooted in, and directly related to the ongoing development of the North American societies and cultures. The Real Roots Café is in fact a hangout fore everyone who would like to learn more about “Real People, Real Instruments and Real Music”.

Spiritual father, designer and manager of the Real Roots Café web site is Jan Janssen. The musical background of this legendary local DJ goes way back in the late sixties, early seventies. The Real Roots Café is coming to you straight from Millingen aan de Rijn in the Netherlands. Geographically Millingen aan de Rijn is situated right in the middle of the triangle Nijmegen, Arnhem en Kleve, Germany. But it also lies on edge of one of most adventures dynamic nature reserve of Western Europe called “The Millingerwaard”.

2006 it was al about  the TEN YEARS Real Roots Café anniversary party on the world wide web. June 4th 2006 at Cultureel Podium Roepaen in Ottersum,  Holland just nearby the German border (Nijmegen, Kleve and Goch area) We had two stages. One acoustic indoor stage in the beautiful just renovated Chapel and one big outdoor stage. We had only 400 tickets, because we wanted to guarantee that all our visitors and artists really could enjoy the festival. So we had only a small budget but we created  something very special. It’s really a never-ending story. Systematically The Real Roots Café is walking the long road, knowing that they are rumble in margins. Nevertheless, they love the challenge to support all those fabulous musicians. who almost never get the chance to promote their music on settled national radio stations and magazines. They cherish the sound that average listeners never get the chance to explore or hear.

DreamTeam

The “ Real Roots Café DreamTeam are; Peter Pricken, Huub Thomassen, Benny Mulder, Paul Jonker, Fred Schmale and myself of course. Everybody is delivering in their own manner and tempo their unique contribution. Check this out, The Real Roots Café knows no deadlines. Together and under their motto “Real People, Real Instruments and Real Music” they want to inform and enjoy their visitors in this cozy virtual café.
